About Us
About our club
Wakefield AFC Juniors are the junior section of Wakefield AFC semi-pro club who currently play in NCEL Division 1 (Tier 10 of the football league).
Wakefield AFC Juniors was formed in May 2023 by the amalgamation of Robin Hood JFC and 2 Teams from Carlton Athletic JFC.
We are affiliated to the West Riding County Football Association and play our games in the Garforth Junior Football Leagues (GJFL) and Selby & District leagues.
Wakefield AFC Juniors are an FA Chartered Standard Club as well as a Kick It Out Equality Chartered Club. We pride ourselves in ensuring we maintain and develop our standards, ethics and diversity.
Our 11 a-side teams play in the fantastic surroundings of the Coach Ground that we share with Robin Hood AFC and our 5v5, 7v7 & 9v9 play at the majestic Sharp Lane Ground.
As well as providing some of the best facilities, environment and coaching in the local area, our club also works within local communities, charities, organisations and local business to improve the lives and opportunities for all through football !
All this is provided from a self funded junior club with a group of un-paid volunteers who give up lots of their own time and have a passion for football, community and most of all seeing our young players develop as footballers, whilst becoming respectful, honest and humble young people whilst having fun playing the beautiful game.

A message from the Chair...
As we venture into the 2024/25 season the committee, coaches and managers have been very busy during the summer.
Signing on 280+ players was a massive feat for our Club Secretary Iain Trearty, as well as securing more grass pitches for all the
teams to play on and also Winter Training Facilities, make no mistake, without Iain's and other efforts we couldn't provide the
basic facilities that we need just to train and play !
This season we welcome 3 new teams to Wakefield AFC Juniors, so we are now at a massive total of 22 teams playing either in the Selby or Garforth Leagues.
Our philosophy is that Grassroots Football is inclusive for all abilities and genders. So as a club we are growing year on year which is fantastic, and we are well on the way
to becoming one of the biggest Junior Football Clubs in West Yorkshire.
As we are an inclusive club, we are openly inviting parents to get involved by joining us at the monthly Committee & Coaches meetings, to bring fresh ideas, IE, fundraising, facilities improvements etc, but generally to see and hear what we are striving to achieve as club. We believe its everyone’s club and as such we are opening the doors for all parents to get involved from U7’s to U16’s, if you are interested in attending the monthly sessions or want to be more involved with the club then please dont hesitate to get in touch via your coach or the "contact us" section on the website.
The club will be holding a number of social and fundraising events during the season, you may not know this, but the players subscriptions doesnt cover all our outgoing annual costs and therefore fund raising is an important part of running a non-profit volunteering grassroots club ! We plan to host a Football Gala for the younger teams and of course a Christmas raffle to help bridge the funding gap and enable us to provide the very best of everything for all our teams and players. On top of this during the month of October we will be collecting goods to donate to the local Foodbanks in Wakefield and donating Easter goods to the Children’s Ward of Pinderfields Hospital. We need all teams to get involved to help the local community.
Being part of Wakefield AFC is to create a pathway for our players to not just get into open age football but Semi Professional Football. To help this pathway we need to encourage the players to get down to watch the First Team, so they start dreaming of one day gracing the same pitch. All Under 16’s are free entry, free car parking so no excuses to start filling the stands with the future generation and cheering on the First Team who love the support from the juniors.
Finally, please join our social media sites (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) that give constant updates about what is happening within the Junior section and also up to date match information regarding Wakefield AFC first team.
We are one club that will continue to put the players first and as a Junior Section we will strive to do our very best ! Thank you for your support.
